From Jenne’s Interim Report:

Ample time was spent for rest, reflection and reading, particularly in the period around Christmas and from May 1 onwards after stepping down as NTFP-EP executive director.  This was useful, not only to reload energy, but also to help orient and myself on a new role, albeit in the same fields as previously.

Some writing and more editing was undertaken, among which two issues (17 and 18) of the Voices from the Forest newsletter (further ‘Voices’), a guest article for FAO’s Non Wood Newsletter (‘A community approach to forest conservation and sustainable development: the NTFP-EP experience’), as well as contributions to an upcoming  NTFP book to be published by Springer Verlag.  More writing is scheduled for the 2nd year, when I will continue to work/expand on ‘lessons learned’, both positive and negative, as well as, topics around ‘food from the forest’ and ‘cultural revival’.

Furthermore, I was able to initiate activities in some areas and fields previously less covered by NTFP-EP. This is all work in progress and will be continued in year two with area focus on the mountains of North Luzon. (See further below)

Finally, I participated in the 2010 ISE Congress, held in Tofino, Canada.  Although not entirely fit at the time, to me it was a most inspiring experience. It was a thrill to be invited as a resource person to so many workshops – all with a different angle, but without exception with topics of interest to me. It was also a rare occasion to meet up with a great number of experienced colleagues from countries as far apart as Taiwan, Siberia and Peru.

Other work included forest bee related activities, cultural revival through tribal festivals, and Food from the Forest.  Read more details Jenne’s full Interim Report.
